There was a heavy rain this morning. As we were getting Abe ready for school and putting his shoes on he told us that we needed to get him his rain boots. He would not let us put on his regular shoes. Then he picked his batman boots, insisted on wearing the cape, and had to have his jacket fully buttoned. When it was all said and done he stated with pride, “I’m full batman.”
Moses was our first child. We took him every where. Yes, we were those people. When Moses got older he became more of a peer than dog. Moses was never a dog that liked to run. He just liked to hang out. He was a dog that always wanted to be in the same room as you but not always up in your business. When Abe was born, Moses did not seem to care either way. Sometimes he would lay down in the same room as Abe but that was about it. He never minded Abe crawling over him or tugging on him. As Abe has gotten older his love of Moses has grown. Abe loves to give Moses a treat or to pet him or snuggle him. At times Abe can be a little annoying for Moses. But Moses never seems to mind. Leah trained Moses to be a therapy dog and the training has paid off. The bond that these two are forming makes our heart grow. In the picture Abe was telling Moses all of the things that he likes to do with him.
The Art of the Dunk
Last night Abe learned to dunk. Leah and I had taken a long road trip over the weekend. During this trip we bought snacks that we never eat. One of the items we had purchased was a box of s’mores poptarts. We decided to break them out last night thinking Abe would not have any. He has been of the mind set lately that he doesn’t like any food that he has not already eaten before. As soon as it come out of the wrapper Abe is interested. He takes a huge first bite. Normally it is just a nibble. He turns to us and says this is delicious. Of course it doesn’t come out that clearly. The way he says delicious, is adorable. As he was eating he wanted a glass of milk to wash it down. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to teach him know to dunk. He mastered it on the first try.
He loved that too.
Abe loves to build with his magnatiles. You can watch his imagination take shape. I have written about them before when he first stared playing with them but now he has taken it to a new level. He has built a home with rooms for everyone. He builds mazes for his hex bugs. One of his favorite things to build is a rocket ship. He builds trains. Sometimes like in the picture he builds more abstract things.
We rarely help with the idea of what to build. Abe just comes up with the idea and only sometimes asks for our help. It is great to watch him explore and use his mind.
He loves to try sports. We try to encourage him and make sure that he has fun doing them. I loved his honest reaction to making a basket.
Leah is the best mommy you could ever ask for. She would do anything for you. To see the two of you holding hands makes my heart sing.
Someone was excited for his first day at school. We are so excited to see what you learn this year and watch you grow. It was joy for us to walk you into school this year and see how seamlessly you transitioned. You are a champ. Love you little buddy, mommy and daddy are so proud.
